My research for LCD TV came to an end when my friend bought Samsung LN52A650 6 months back. Since them I was waiting for a good deal to by same TV. Looks like the wait was worth as Samsung upgraded their models with contrast ratio and some new goodies.
The contrast ratio of 80,000:1 is superb. The picture looks nice and shadows and black are as dark as possible.
The colors were rich and vibrant out of the box. I did not had to make any changes so far. The film look is little dimmer but I prefer images that way only. You can see glare only if watching from side angle. In the night I can watch TV from almost 180 degree angle and the picture looks fine.
The TV itself looks amazing in person. The matte screen reduces glare and I can watch TV without any trouble in my overly bright room.
The standard definition TV looked perfectly fine on 4:3, 16:9 and zoom modes. Only cartoon films that are made for SD TV look less attractive.
Once I got my HD setup from Dish, I was blown away by clarity and picture quality of the TV. With 1080i using HDMI ESPN, Discovery and other HD channels look great. Give you the feeling that you are there.
Sound quality meets expectations.
In my opinion, this TV is excellent and does more that what I expected.
Buying experience
I always enjoyed buying from Amazon, and with deal as sweet as this one I couldn't pass it on. $200 off with Wii free. The item was shipped via Pilot. Once I got tracking number I called pilot and they setup delivery next day. THe guy arrived on time and fixed the TV, powered it, checked some channels and was out in 10 mins. So no issues with delivery.
